It has been a few years since I was here and while it was very good before, it's even BETTER now. They've added a lot more items to the menu, and you always get great friendly service. Breakfasts can be busy, but they turn over the tables quickly and it is definitely worth the wait. If you're in the Eagle River area, it is a definite place to put on your MUST EAT list.

Outrageously good food! Amazingly fair prices! And the service is top notch! We always make sure to get to Leif's when we're in Eagle River. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. For a big, filling breakfast I always go with the skillets. Pancakes, waffles, and French toast are great as well. Oh, and real bottomless coffee!

Couldn't be better. Good food, friendly service, convenient with good pricing. Doesn't get better than that. Had dinner and came back for breakfast. Broasted chicken was perfect.

No. Nope. Breakfast was served cold. Service was ok, but not the type of smiley friendliness I've grown accustomed to up in the north woods. I was really surprised to have the experience we did given the high reviews for this place. But all 3 of us felt it was overrated after trying it ourselves.

Yelp said this was the best breakfast in town and it was! We highly recommend it! The coffee was being refilled constantly and the omelettes are the best ever. The garbage omelette was outstanding!

Killer coffee for a diner. Square prices and wonderful local conversations about hunting, fishing and other backwoods topics. I had biscuits and gravy on a lark and it was the right choice. No smoking! They are cool about letting you hang loose and read the paper too. Not sure about the WiFi situation, probably most people don't care, but I do. Open early at 5 a.m. Good stuff!

Best place for breakfast in Eagle River. Always busy so expect to wait. Friendly service and always warming up your coffee cup.

Ate dinner here tonight and had a fabulous experience! Due to the preponderance of 5-star breakfast reviews, most of us ordered from the vast array of breakfast skillets. Out of our party of eight, one ordered the Cuban sandwich and one the chicken and dumplings. All of the food was raved about, but it was the service that made our meal truly 5-star! We arrived at 7:30 pm and the sign on the door said they serve until 8:00 pm. Peri, our waitress, was sweeping the floor and wiping down the counter. I thought, uh oh, she is not going to be thrilled with our large party showing up so late. I was so wrong! Peri waited on us like the professional she clearly is, made us laugh, made us feel at home, and never rushed us. The only thing not available on the menu was the broasted chicken. They had just turned off the broaster before we walked in. I asked her if our paying separately would "blow her mind". She pretended like her head was exploding and laughed saying the computer could split us anyway we wanted. What a great restaurant! Don't hesitate to come here for dinner, or anytime! Our best meal in the Northwoods! BTW, they also have beer and wine.

The wait to be seated was 20 minutes. Fine. Seated, greeted in 15 minutes. OK. Ordered quickly. Waited over an HOUR for food. "Your ticket has only been in for twenty minutes, we only have four cooks, we are really busy blah blah blah" by a dismissive waitress. Food at next table (who sat down after us, and AFTER we ordered) came before ours. Straw on camel's back broke. We left. Totally inept. Food supposed to be good, but how could we know?!?! NEVER EVER going back. Might be worst service ever, except for the manager who comped our coffee and OJ.

In town for the week on vacation and visited Leif's twice.. Great breakfast, wonderful service and happy atmosphere. Great for kids too (they loved the chocolate chip pancakes and crayons/coloring pages kept them occupied). Great coffee and mugs..purchased a couple of mugs to bring back home.

Big portions, fresh and seems to always be busy yet have never waited for a table.

Awesome skillet and service. Every single time here I am scraping my plate to get one last bite.

Descent food, though my burrito was too salty. My husband likes the meat skillet. We had quite a long wait. They had really fun kids cups. The portions are large.

This is the happening breakfast joint of eagle river. There was about a 20 min wait, but it was well worth it. Super friendly staff, fantastic food, and great prices. Bottomless coffee was quite good as well. Highly recommend.

Awesome breakfast skillets, pancakes are huge and the service was great. Next time we are in the area we will definitely go back for more.

A great, hearty homemade breakfast stop. The hash browns and coffee are a staple, and everything is priced right. The service is fast and friendly. This is a place we never miss!

Breakfast was great and the menu had a nice variety. Service was friendly, so I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about. I've driven by here many times while heading to LandO, so glad I finally stopped in. I'll make a point to stop in!

Went here for lunch and then for breakfast - fantastic food! Fresh ingredients and good iced tea. Worth a trip!

The best spot for breakfast in Eagle River! I went here two or three days in a row and the food was quite good. The lines can be long though so be ready to wait at peak times.

Eaten breakfast here 3 times now. Awesome breakfast food! Service is alright but the breakfasts here are really good. Worth the stop

Super awesome breakfast. As a southerner myself I am pretty picky about my biscuits and gravy, and these were awesome. There were huge chuncks of sausage in the gravy, and it was so delicious.

Wow, what the hell happened? Every time we've been to Leif's, no matter the time of day, it was ALWAYS busy with barely an empty table and always excellent food. This trip? Most tables were empty (we got there for a real late breakfast/early lunch), the vibe was SO different...the chorizo here had been SO great in the past. Obviously a different brand is being used now as it was horribly salty and ruined the omelette as a result. The pork sausage sandwich - same thing. My husband couldn't even finish eating the sandwichh as a result of the high salt content in the sausage. His onion rings - which in the past, had always tasted hand breaded and flavor was great - was nothing more than Sysco product. Terrible. When we paid the bill, I noticed the business cards by the cash register with the owner's name on it and saw a latin name instead of the prior owner's. I asked the gal about it while paying my bill and she said, "Yes, it was sold about a month ago. Pretty sudden and unexpected really but the transition has been pretty smooth." Perhaps the transition has been pretty smooth but it was quite obvious the new owner has already made changes with the products that HAD been used in the past which will not go over well with the Leif followers (those whose tongues that recognize such changes anyway). We definitely won't be returning there and it is such a shame - it was our favorite casual spot to eat up here!

Very Good Breakfast....Best Creamed Beef Ever! Excellent Service. Sorry I missed dinner; would have been a good choice for a pre race meal for Journeys Marathon.

I'm always totally amazed at how full the parking lot is and how quick you can be seated and then served. Probably because since Lief's went no smoking, even before the mandate, tourists don't sit around after breakfast having more coffee and 3 cigarettes. Great food. By the way, we don't do the Texas Two Step in Wisconsin nor do we pronounce Lief's with two syllables. It's Leef's.

Great breakfast! Pancakes the size of your head, light and fluffy. Huge portions of everything, tasty coffee. Friendly staff, even met Leif! I highly recommend this place.

We love going here every chance we are in the northwoods. Great food. Very personable staff. Everyone knows everyone. Great place to see the towns folk, they welcome you back when your just on vacation. We bought few of there table spice and logo coffee mugs for that feeling of being there when your 300 miles away at home. Cant say enough about this great small town cafe. Stop by. You will not be dissapointed!!! They even are on the snowmobile trail

This should be your breakfast stop whenever you're in Eagle River. Classic place with great breakfast selection made any way you want it. The earlier two reviews are spot on. The whole family will eat and be merry here.

Great breakfast! Never have had a bad one. Waitress was a little rude and not very attentive (she screamed at the hostess that people were waiting). Other than that, I try to go at least once when I am visiting. LOVE it!!

My first time at Leif's Cafe and I will say the food was decent. The sandwiches we had were very good and my friend and I split one since we thought the portions looked big as we saw others meals around us. This was a good move. We ordered the chicken dumpling soup which was also good. Our waitress appeared pre-occupied the entire time and very busy. Our check was incorrect and when we told her she took it back without a word, fixed it, brought it back and it was still incorrect. After waiting another few minutes for her to reappear, we went to the cashier who also rang it up incorrectly the first time and finally got it right. I am talking two sandwiches and three soups! Really. May or may not return.

Absolutely killer breakfasts, great lunch and dinner and not nearly as crowded on the inside as it might look with a packed parking lot on the outside.

Get the hashbrowns. 'nuff said. Seriously, Leif's (pronounced Layf's, not Leaf's - we asked a waitress) is my favorite breakfast spot. Whenever I'm somewhere else and want to go out to breakfast, my friends and I try to find "some place like Leif's." And it's all because of the hashbrowns. Sure, the stuffed French toast is wonderful, they advertise as having the best omelet (and the omelet is quite good), their pancakes are larger than the plate (and fluffy too!), the service is phenomenal (your coffee will never run out), but truly, it's all about the hashbrowns. Sprinkle some of that Curt's seasoning on there, mix 'em up or eat them as they are, browned on top, delicious all the way through.

Fast, friendly service. Good food for a reasonable price. Outstanding breakfasts - the omelets are perfect and there are, surprisingly, many many vegetarian choices.

Yes the hashbrowns are good, but they are not quite as good as those served at the Cookery in Sugar Camp. Breakfast is good, but I like it for lunch and dinner. Particularly good menu items are: Cahsew Chicken Salad, Taco Salad, and Burgers (like how they toast the buns). I have to admit the creamy soups are a little rich for my taste, but it might work to order just a cup if you are craving a creamy soup. One of their specials is the Chicken and Dumplings which are fabulous, but their other daily specials are just as good. Happy Eating
